Chelsea’s defeat of Liverpool at the weekend leaves Manchester City in control of their destiny once more and with a seemingly straightforward task. Win all four games remaining this season and they will surely be crowned champions.

With a considerably better goal difference you would imagine that Manchester City will win the league if they are level on points with Liverpool at the end of the season.

And the big one is of course Everton away this weekend – most now see that one as the title decider.

When the dust has settled on this campaign Manchester City will probably be spending stupendous amounts of cash again to sign some more of Europe’s cream.

Samir Nasri’s displays this season have reminded us of the general good value in French players in The Premier League.

They largely adapt to the English game really well and will continue to thrive in the fast-paced environment of Blighty. Another who has been linked to Manchester City of late is Aymeric Laporte.

A 19 year old French man is drawing admiring glances from around Europe and Manchester City are said to be interested along with Barcelona and Manchester United.

Only the second French player ever to play for Athletic Bilbao Laporte has wonderful feet for a centre back and looks like a player for now and the future – Because, at 19, he’s already 6ft 2in and a very strong lad.

We think Manchester City will spend a large amount of cash on a centre back this summer with Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala reportedly heading the list. But don’t be surprised to see them invest in the future as well and this 19 year old looks like the real deal. Reports of him having already agreed to sign for Barcelona seem premature but Manchester City would need to act fast if they are serious about taking him.
