We find it absolutely incredible that West Ham fans have given Sam Allardyce such a rough time this season.
The wily old campaigner may not engender the sort of flair that West Ham fans want to see in their team right now.
But what he has done is given West Ham a solid foundation on which to build. Because, make no mistake, staying in The Premier League is a step forward for West Ham.
If the club invest wisely this summer then they could go onto the next level of winning with entertaining football.
Two players have again been linked to West Ham today and both could make a real difference for the club. The Guardian says:
Sunderland and Italy winger Emanuele Giaccherini is inching his way across Big Sam’s radar, where he may bump into a Joleon Lescott-shaped green blob.
Lescott has had a rough time of it at Manchester City during a period of huge investment. He cost over 20 million himself but hasn’t made as much of an impression as he would’ve liked.
Nevertheless he is an international standard player and his transfer would be a major coup for the club.
As for Giaccherini he really has had a brilliant season at Sunderland and been one of the few bright spots of a really bad campaign for the Wearsiders.
Sunderland would certainly not want to lose the player but relegation will threaten their chances of keeping him.
He is simply too good to be in the second tier of the English leagues and we think that he would be nailed on as a West Ham fan favourite next season if he did join.
Let’s see the lad in action.
