Aston Villa have had a disappointing season in all.
There hasn’t been a huge amount of progression from last time out but we still think Paul Lambert is the right man for the job.
He has stabilised the club somewhat and they are more comfortable than at this stage last season.
But injuries and a thin squad have left them short in so many games.
This summer is absolutely crucial for the Aston Villa boss. He needs to make a real mark in the transfer market if he’s going to use the summer as a springboard for a better campaign come August.

He’s only 20 years of age and therefore could still realise the huge potential that he showed at his first club. He’s a powerful looking midfielder who could do a job shielding the midfield or as a box to box player.
But the question is whether Aston Villa should be trying to buy established internationals or continuing to look for youngsters.
With so many powerful clubs flooding the market for the top players, Paul Lambert has done the intelligent thing, in looking for youth and potential.
But you do feel a couple of accomplished players in their mid to late 20s could really steady the ship at Aston Villa next season.
