Transfer shocker

We all know that the lure of more money and more success can drive players to mercenary actions at times. Few fans will be alien to the pain of one of their star players leaving for pastures new. For Tottenham, read Bale, Berbatov, Modric and Campbell.

But it’s one thing moving to a foreign club who are offering total change of lifestyle and completely another to join a club just a few miles up the road. Speculation today suggests that Younes Kaboul may do just that this summer with above to Arsenal.

We think that a player of Kaboul’s quality would have a number of top choices and serious suitors if he decided to leave Tottenham. But to move to Arsenal and create so much negativity in the process there would have to be something a little bit nasty about you. A bit masochistic. Just plain wrong.

So we don’t think that this one will happen. But here is what the media are saying about it today.

The Daily Star reports:

YOUNES KABOUL is ready copy Sol Campbell by quitting Tottenham to join bitter rivals Arsenal on a free transfer.

And he has told friends he is keen on the idea of moving across north London to the Gunners.

Meanwhile The Metro says:

Tottenham’s Younes Kaboul is set to ‘pull a Sol Campbell’ and join rivals Arsenal in the summer, according to reports.

Kaboul, 28, is best friends with Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby, and any move across north London would bring back painful memories for the Spurs faithful who lost former captain Campbell to the Gunners on a free back in 2001.
