The Barclays Premier League
West Ham United vs Manchester United, Upton Park, 1500
West Ham: Adrian, McCartney, Nolan, Tomkins, Carroll, Taylor, Noble, Collins, Demel, Diame, Downing.
Manchester United: De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Carrick, Buttner; Mata, Fletcher, Fellaini, Young; Kagawa; Rooney.
Manchester United awoke from their season long slumber to record a famous win against Olympiakos in the week.
But, in a manner typical of their season they weren’t able to enjoy that success for long before they got some more terrible news. Not only did they draw the machine-like Bayern Munchen in the next round of the European Cup but they will also be without RvP who scored all three goals in the victory.
David Moyes initially seemed relaxed about the injury but scans revealed much worse damage for the Dutchman.
Some would argue that Manchester United have nothing left to play for in the league this season. But David Moyes won’t see it like that as his job is well and truly on the line.
As for West Ham, they have had a superb winter after a shaky first half tot he season. Ludicrously, some were calling for the head of Sam Allardyce earlier this season but he has steered the ship beautifully since. They will be relishing this game against a team which has taken one step forward and two back all season.
