Arsenal

Arsenal reportedly want 2 World Class signings – who are they?

Some would argue that Arsenal are in stasis while others think that progress is occurring but just very slowly. There is no doubting that, by many clubs’ standards, Arsenal are having an excellent season.

Despite a Champions League exit, they are right in the title hunt and look nailed on for The FA Cup.

But every fan wants their club to spend big and, in the case of Arsneal, they appear to have a mass stash of cash to splash. After a few years of austerity, to cover the bill for the new stadium, Arsenal recently bought £42.5m worth of Mesut Ozil in a potential portent of what is to come.

The Metro reports today that Arsenal are looking for two major recruits this summer:

Arsenal want to sign at least two world class players in the summer to help propel the club onto glory next season.

We would hope that Arsene Wenger can stop staring at attacking midfielders for long enough to consider the areas of actual weakness in his squad. He needs a striker and a defender. Perhaps he will opt for two of these guys:

Lukasz PiszczekWe wrote earlier about the recent link to this guy. If Sagna leaves then he would be fantastic replacement. He’s the complete full back – great going forward but also a proficient defender.

Hulk – Arsenal will surely make a big bid for a striker in the summer and we think that they would struggle to do much better than Zenit’s Hulk. Diego Costa is also a brilliant striker but Hulk has more pace. He’s a player who is technically good enough for Arsenal but would also offer the physical penetration and presence up front that The Gunners can lack in the tightest games.

Julian Draxler – With the German’s star rising all the time we feel that Arsenal may have missed a golden opportunity to do a deal for the player in January. It’s arguable whether they need another attacking midfielder but if Draxler can also do a job up front then he might prove an excellent and adaptable addition.

Micah Richards – Some Arsenal fans scoff at this suggestion but we think Richards is undervalued at City. Now is the time for Richards to kick on and he would offer the flexibility of covering at right back or in the middle. He certainly wouldn’t go into the world class category right now. But he certainly has the qualities to be a star at Arsenal.
