There were some rare and encouraging signs in the Manchester United performance against West Brom at the weekend. This optimism should be tempered, however, by the fact that the opposition are seriously struggling right now and a bad result has all too often followed a good one for Manchester United this season.
Nevertheless Mata and Fellaini had their best games for the club and the interplay between the front line showed glimpses of real promise. The only thing that RvP, Rooney, Januzaj and Mata lack is killer pace. But they have enough variety between them to make a strong case for becoming the best attack in the league.
But David Moyes will doubtless still spend a huge amount of money in the summer and two oft linked names have been thrown into the hat again of late. The Daily Mail says:
It now seems highly likely that the club will attempt a £40 million (48m Euros) double bid for Southampton’s emerging England players Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw.
Everyone knows about the quality of Luke Shaw, which was underlined by an impressive performance for England last week. But Adam Lallana has also taken to the international scene like a duck to water and is making a serious case for inclusion on the plane to Brazil.
Although some Manchester United fans may be more excited by the idea of high profile foreign stars arriving at Old Trafford, Lallana could prove a valuable addition in the rebuilding of the squad. He’s more technically astute than a lot of what Manchester United currently have in the wider areas. Lallana is also quick across the ground, energetic and has a great eye for goal.
Manchester Untied fans will doubtless want to see the club beat Chelsea to the signature of Shaw but there is also a growing feeling that they may look to Lallana.
Manchester United fans – is Lallana good enough to make waves at Old Trafford?
