Exactly What Arsenal Needs

Just what Arsenal need

While we have opined for some time that Arsenal are a little short, in terms of playing staff, to win the title this season, we do think that the result against Liverpool was skewed.

Although Liverpool are absolutely flying under Brendan Rodgers Arsenal aren’t four goals worse than their rivals. It was just one of those horrid days when everything goes wrong. Every team has them.

We think hat the game against Manchester United will be a better barometer of where Arsenal are. If they lose this one, against a Manchester United team in the midst of a twenty year low, we will have to start asking questions of the club once more.

In the same way that outsiders see Manchester United’s glaring weakness as a dodgy midfield, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems allergic to the idea of buying steel to add to his wonderful but fragile china.

How they could do with a monster in the middle to break up attacks and give the ball to one of the many technical geniuses around him.

Arsenal are being linked with just such a man. The Guardian today refers to a story from several other sources:

Arsenal and Spurs supporters may also get to exchange apoplectic impotence over the transfer of Udinese’s Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu..

The 23 year old Ghanaian is only 5ft 8in. But don’t let that fool you. He is almost as wide as he is tall and has calfs the size of actual baby cows.

But he’s also really quick and has a lovely touch. Although he’s best placed as a defensive midfielder he has the skill to offer cover for several positions. He’s already played 41 times for Ghana, scoring 7 goals – remarkable for such a young player.

He recently stated that he would be open to a move to England as Liverpool reportedly circled during the window. Admirers in Italy apparently include Juventus and Roma so his signature could be difficult to acquire.

What is clear to us is that he would be a highly suitable player for Arsenal’s needs.

Let’s see the lad in action. Arsenal fans – keen?
