It’s happening folks. Deadline day is here at last. Sometimes we think that the transfer window should only be one day long. It seems that most of the month is spent posturing before the actual business gets done right at the end. So why not make it one day long and absolve the masses of all their suffering?
Morning musings aside, Liverpool will be one of the more active clubs in the market today as the ‘major’ deal gathers pace.
The Daily Mail this morning reports that Liverpool are ‘on the brink’ of signing much sought after Ukranian winger Yehven Konoplyanka from Dnipro.
Liverpool are poised to meet the £15million asking price for Dnipro winger Yehven Konoplyanka on Friday after Tottenham seemingly dropped out of the running for the Ukraine winger.
However, Liverpool still need to meet wage demands of around £100,000 a week to land the ‘major’ signing earmarked by Brendan Rodgers.
Ian Ayre, managing director of Liverpool, flew out for discussions with the player yesterday amid talk that another Premier League club was interested in the services of the winger. But Liverpool seem to have beaten off the competition – not in a dirty way – and we expect the deal to be completed at some stage today.
Whether or not Brendan Rodgers is planning any more late swoops for players such as Atletico Madrid youngster Saul Niguez, remians to be seen. We shall keep you updtaed throughout this crazy day. But it looks good at this point for Liverpool in terms of the signing of Yehven Konoplyanka.
We shall keep you updated. Meantime let’s see the wing wizard in action while we are all scratching our heads as to what chant can possibly accomodate the player’s name.
