After several windows that Liverpool fans were pleased to see shut, this one turned out to be completely the opposite. Noone came in for players that Liverpool didn’t want to sell. But they did fail in their bid to bring The Alphabet to Anfield, after eleventh hour wrangles with the selling club.

Word on the street is that Liverpool will go back for Yevhen Konoplyanka in the summer.

Another player who Liverpool reportedly made an offer for in January is Barcelona defender Martin Montoya. The Metro not only states that a bid was made for the player in January but that Liverpool will go back in for his signature in the summer. They say:

Liverpool want to sign Martin Montoya in the summer

Liverpool have been given a boost in the hunt for Barcelona defender Martin Montoya after he turned down the Spanish club’s latest contract offer.

Montoya, who was subject of an offer from the Reds during the January transfer window, has been locked in negotiations with Barca over an extension to his current deal.

The 22 year old has turned out 34 times for Barcelona – scoring the solitary goal. But those appearances have been spread over 4 seasons. He has played 16 times in all competitions for The Catalan’s this season but, apparently, he’s getting frustrated.

It’s understandable because he’s a really good right back who now needs to kick on. He’s played at every youth international level for Spain and also played a few games for the senior Catalonia side.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Liverpool fans do you fancy this guy to push Glen Johnson all the way for a first teams spot next season if he arrives?
