One more signing for Moyes?

The signing of Juan Mata was obviously massive for Manchester United and we wholeheartedly approve of clubs making signings when world-class players become available – regardless of their playing position. Because really top players are few and far between and, when the opportunity arises to get one, there is surely no option but to go all out for a deal.

But despite signing a brilliant Spaniard for mega bucks there is a feeling around Manchester United that their transfer window business has not yet been concluded.

After the Mata deal was concluded David Moyes said:

“I don’t think we will have any more [new signings] in January – I’m still working on it and looking to do so.”

But, after being stung in the summer, we believe that he is being quite defensive with regards to transfer. He will look for extra players right up until the end of the window. Because, despite signing a brilliant Spaniard, Manchester United still have holes in their midfield. They could do with one more player to add quality and depth to that area of the park.

One of the best possible signings that Manchester United could make in the remaining time left in January is Bayern Munich player Tony Kroos. He has been recently linked with a move to Manchester United and the player has now publicly discussed his contract wrangles with his current club.

Kroos said: “I am unable to rule anything out.

“I am under contract with Bayern Munich (until June 2015). Actually there are yet no further talks (regarding a new contract) scheduled.

On Wednesday The Express quoted Pep Guardiola, who didn’t rule out a move and, in so doing, fanned the flames of transfer speculation:

He said: “He is an important player but things can move fast in football.

“Here today, gone tomorrow.”

The 24 year old has already represented Germany 41 times scoring five goals in the process. He has also been a key performer in Bayern Munich’s recent success. His odds on a move to Manchester United have come in to 2/1 with SkyBet this week as rumours abound.

It seems unlikely that a deal for such an important player could be done before the end of January. But we said the same thing about Juan Mata just a week ago. David Moyes seems to have the bit between his teeth at Manchester United now and he will be hellbent on further additions, if not now, as soon as the window reopens.
