Aston Villa look as if they could be one of the more active Premier League parties during the Janaury transfer window. With Grant Holt on board Villa have added some much needed experience to a front line which blows hot and cold, despite the considerable talents of Benteke, Agbonlahor et al.
Yesterday we reported on a Barcelona youngster who Aston Villa may try to snare in January. And the Aston Villa forums have been awash, over the last few days, with news that Norwich midfielder Wes Hoolahan could soon be joining the club also. Hoolahan has submitted a transfer request in an attempt to join Aston Villa in January.
Sky Sports reported yesterday that Hoolahan wants a move to Aston Villa:
Norwich midfielder Wes Hoolahan has confirmed that he wants to leave the club to be reunited with Paul Lambert at Aston Villa.
Hoolahan had been subject to speculation and has confirmed that he has handed in a transfer request at the club.
On the back of the story bookmakers Skybet have shortened the odds on Hoolihan joining Aston Villa in the January transfer window. The midfielder is now odds-on at 1/2 to become a Villa player this month.
Hoolahan has seven caps for the Republic of Ireland since his debut in 2008. He netted a creditable 30 goals in 184 performances for Norwich City and, at 31, he’s a composed and experienced pro who could well add value to the Aston Villa midfield.
Let’s take a look at him in action. Aston Villa fans – does this guy boil your potatoes or would it be an underwhelming signing for the club?
