Manchester United again linked with a genuine match winner

Gundogan - a tidy player but is he what United needs?

United should pull out all the stops for this guy

Surely, surely, surely. Oh hell, let’s do another. Surely, Manchester United are going to strengthen their midfield in the January transfer window. With the cupboard looking bare in the engine room and new signing Marouane Fellaini below par and out injured, Manchester United are utterly desperate for some inspiration from the centre of the park.

With Micheal Carrick well off the pace after injury Manchester United can only call on Anderson, Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs to provide dynamism and creativity in the most important area of the park.

The first two on the list haven’t exactly showered themselves in glory so far this season. Fletcher has been out for so long that it will take time to get him back to the fore. This leaves Ryan Giggs, the 40-year-old legend, to run things in the middle. He still does a decent job when called upon but he hardly represents the future of the club in terms of playing staff.

Various reports are today linking an absolute magician with the club once more. Of all the names linked to Manchester United over the last couple of months we believe that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is amongst the very best.

He’s got a little bit of everything – he’s quick, has a great range of passing and controls the tempo of games. He’s got a great engine, a super touch and he loves to get forward. He can play any role in the midfield, be it attacking, or marshalling the defence. He’s hard to knock off the ball and has a good physique. We think that he would be a marvellous player for the club.

Speaking of Moyes The Guardian says:

he’s after the Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio and Ilkay Gundogan of Borussia Dortmund.

While The Mirror says:

The Germany international has been out since August with a back problem and Dortmund do not want to lose another one of their prized assets, with United reportedly interested.

He’s out of contract in 18 months and you would imagine that if Manchester United really want him then now is the time to negotiate a deal.

Let’s see the lad in action. Manchester United fans – is this guy the answer if United only sign one midfielder in January?
