Although many think that West Ham’s most urgent need is to sign a striker in the winter window, Sam Allardyce will always be on the look out for any available talent – especially after another, albeit predictable, battering in The Capital One Cup.
With West Ham low on confidence and focused on Premier League survival the last place they would have wanted to go in midweek would be to City. They are on fire right now and could have inflicted a similar scoreline on most teams in the league on current form.
But the result shows that improvement is required in all areas of the pitch. One player who would certainly make West Ham a more solid proposition is Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott. The 31 year old is on the peripheries of the City squad right now and although the City boss has remained coy about the future of the player, speculation persists that he will make a move in the January window. Lescott may still have designs on going to The World Cup in Brazil and, to do so, he’ll need a run of games.
He’s still a class act and bookmakers SkyBet and Bet Victor both have West Ham as odds on favourites to sign the England man in January. Lescott, who joined City for £22m in 2009, has just 6 months to run on his contract so any transfer fee would be nominal.
If West ham can sign a player of this quality in January, it’s surely a no-brainer. West Ham fans what do you think?

The front line seems to be coming along nicely, and the back line well we still haven’t got one Lescott would be a fantastic player to have.
