Manchester United installed as favourites to sign sublime England midfielder

If you were to take a punt on who might be busiest in the transfer window it would be a safe bet to plump for Manchester United. With so many areas of the team that seem unsettled, David Moyes will surely be investing in January.

We all know it’s not a great time to sign players but the need is so great at Manchester United, with Champions League qualification far from guaranteed, that investment simply has to be made. As a team that has never finished out of the top four in The Premier League they have built their budget around the expectation of that huge yearly Champions League income.

So Manchester Untied will certainly bolster their squad. And we simply can’t see a better signing than Everton’s Ross Barkley. Time and again since the summer window we have questioned why Moyes went for Fellaini instead of Ross Barkley. The young Englishman is a sublime talent with everything in his locker. He’s incredibly strong for a young man. He’s quick, athletic and fearless. He’s a wonderful passer of the ball – a quality helped massively by his rare and instinctive football vision. He scores goals, can beat a man with a dribble and loves to tackle – in short Barkley is a midfield version of Wayne Rooney.

We think that he would be absolute mustard for Mancheser United. Whether they can get him in January is highly debatable. But, in fact, as he hasn’t yet signed a new contract it may be a better time than some might think.

SkyBet, who may or may not have some inside info on this, have installed Manchester United as favourite for Barkley’s signature in January. At odds of 7/1 it might be worth a punt.

It would be an extremely difficult transfer to complete and he surely wouldn’t be sold for a penny less than £35m. If we had the purse strings at Old Trafford we would offer that and Marouane Fellaini in order to ensure that the best midfielder of his generation spends his career at Manchester United.
