It’s been a turbulent start to the season for Manchester United under new manager David Moyes. He needs to ride the storm right now and hope to get his team playing like just that – a team. Because, the performances so far this season have been nigh on abysmal.
Serious strengthening is expected in January and June but Moyes must realise that he has a nucleus of world-beaters in his squad – players on which he must build the foundations for the next great Manchester United incarnation. Here are United’s untouchables in a squad that needs a serious overhaul:
David De Gea – With the number one spots at Barcelona and Real Madrid coming up for renewal in the next year Manchester United should do everything possible to keep this guy. After a difficult start to his United career he has become one of The Premier League’s best. Now he has the physique to match his skill he’s one of United’s top performers. Everything seems to stick to him and he now has the presence to boss his defence. What a player.
Phil Jones – When the midfield crisis resolves itself perhaps it will be the right time to put Phil Jones in at centre back for good. He’s been an excellent midfielder for Manchester United but you still sense that his best position will be in defence and he should be able to marshal the backline for the next decade at Old Trafford – future captain.
Rafael Da Silva – Still needs to find consistency this season after injury. But, make no mistake, he’s a world-class right back in the making. If Moyes can’t see this he must be off his chops. Rafa just needs game time.
Carrick – At 32 he doesn’t have to much time left but is still a top performer for Manchester United. Adds composure and creativity to the worst midfield United have had in 20 years. Should stay in the team for another year until quality reinforcements are found.
Januzaj – He has the world at his feet. We believe that Manchester United have found a future world star in Januzaj – he’s that good. He looks like Messi with the ball at his feet and when he has come on as sub this season he immediately looks a cut above the rest. Even at 18 his final ball is sublime – exactly what United need right now.
RvP – United fans will hope that the Dutchman’s old injury problems have not come back to haunt him. He hasn’t managed too many games this season but when he is firing he is still one of the best finishers in the world. He has two more years at the top at least.
Rooney – He’s been Manchester United’s best player for years and he must remain at the club. At 28 he embodies everything good about United. He plays with skill, pace, vision, verve and tenacity – the collective favourite player of soccersweep.

Hello.
I would substract Rooney from this list. Though I agree he represents everything United, it is that same fact that I feel is holding the team back. Rooney is a great player, and his contributions to Manchester United over the years cannot be ignored, but when he plays it feels like the whole team relies on him, and that is never good. Same goes for RvP, who is also amazing, but cannot be United’s only hope.

Great idea Daniel – sell the only 2 world class players at the club. It might make sense to add more world class players and reduce the reliance on WR and RVP!!! Muppet.
