You don’t have to be a genius to work out the West Ham could do with one or two more strikers. They look fairly solid throughout the team and have Andy Carroll to come back in and provide goals. But they need some serious competition up top.
In a surprising development a top striker has been linked to West Ham by bookmaker SkyBet. They reckon that if Dimitar Berbatov leaves for Fulham for another English club in the winter window, as many are predicting, that he is most likely to go to West Ham.
Berbatov, who joined Manchester United for a club record £30m in 2008, is 12/1 with the bookmaker to join West Ham before the end of January. This makes West Ham favourite English club to get his signature ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.
We think that he would provide superb service for Andy Carroll if West Ham can keep their main striker fit. They would compliment each other beautifully. The Bulgarian loves to play in the hole, scoring goals, but also providing ammo for a number nine.
He’s not exactly the most hard-working player in the world but he does provide moments of jawdropping beauty on the football field and can also be very effective at unlocking doors in tight games.
At the age of 32 he won’t command a massive transfer fee and could be the perfect short-term option for West Ham. Let’s have a look at the lad in action. West Ham fans do you reckon Berbatov would be a good signing for the club or an expensive waste of time?
