Tottenham and Fulham bookie favourites to sign England player

Cleverley: A bit underwhelming really

Good signing for Fulham or Tottenham?

With Rene Meulensteen taking over at Fulham it’s only natural that the club will now be linked with Manchester United players.

Fulham are in freefall and they really need a fillip, probably by way of a good signing, to turn things around. A new approach from an incoming manager will of course help, but they will probably need some fresh blood in there too, in terms of the playing staff.

Fulham would be grateful for several fringe players in the Manchester United squad – but one name that has suddenly come into the betting as a potential signing is Tom Cleverley.

Although he has played in England regularly under Roy Hodgson Cleverley’s career at Manchester United seems to be stalling. At 24 he hasn’t quite kicked onto the next stage of his career. He is neat and tidy on the ball and rarely cedes possession cheaply. But he can struggle to impose himself and get the ball forward instead of sideways.

Nevertheless he is an energetic player and would be a decent addition to the full squad. Skybet have recently installed him as 16/1 to join Fulham. The fairly long price suggests that Manchester United may want to hold onto it. Nevertheless Fulham, along with Tottenham, are favourites for his signature with the bookmaker.

Quite where he would fit into a Tottenham midfield, which has so much quality to call on, is difficult to imagine. But Fulham could definitely make room for him.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action for Manchester United. Do you think Cleverley would inject quality into Tottenham or Fulham, or would you prefer to prioritise other signings?

where do you get these ideas from? Cleverly is needed by ManU and certainly not Spurs. With odds of 14 – 1 it sounds very unlikely to happen!
