Memories of the defeat to Manchester United will have been largely washed away by the international tedium and Arsenal fans will be looking forward to cracking on with their club football at home to Southampton this weekend.
But the mongers of doom, us among them, have been waiting for Arsenal to wilt. They have started the season beautifully but will need to enhance their number in the winter window if they really want to sustain a trophy challenge all the way through until the spring.
We think that Arsenal could do with some supplementary steel but also further firepower. Recent reports suggest that Arsenal may sneak in under the noses of arch-rivals Tottenham to sign Spurs’ long term target Alen Halilovic. The Guardian today says:
Arsenal officials will attempt to sign 17-year-old Dinamo Zagreb tyro Alen Halilovic, possibly just to annoy their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts
reports suggest that that has given Arsenal hope that they may yet be able to snatch Halilovic out from under their north London rivals’ nose.
Quite where another attacking midfielder would fit into the plans at Arsenal remains to be seen – especially as we are talking about a 17 year old who is yet to play in The Premier League.
But the kid is supposed to be a bit spesh and has already played 37 times for Dinamo Zagreb and thrice for Croatia, despite his tender age. Let’s see the boy in action. Arsenal fans, would you be happy to fork out for this lad or see the money go on a more experienced player who can make a difference straight away?

It is a real pity some so called journalists resort to this stunt only to make them heard. I believe journalism is a decent profession and for it to treated as a medium to vent out one’s hatred for another football club is really astonishing. Why then the cry and urge for a free and democratic society and their attendant institutions. Even though there may be ingrates in the game of football and there are those who always want to win at any cost; we must endeavour to live amongst ourselves as decent and well behaved humans. It is a game we have live to enjoy watching and castigating others just because we do not share the same affinity, folks.
