It’s hard to debate the fact that Sam Allardyce has done a good job since taking charge at West Ham. Some aren’t happy with his tactical style but he has most definitely steadied the ship.
Complacency is unlikely to set in at West Ham as three or four bad results could send them straight into the drop zone but, overall, they look pretty solid this season.
Their big weakness has been in attack where they simply haven’t score enough goals. Andy Carroll has been a real loss for them this season and he seems to pick up regular niggling injuries.
He will of course come back and play a big part for them but West Ham are too reliant on his services. The Daily Mail today suggests that West Ham might go in for Clint Dempsey. He only just moved to the MLS in America but could be up for a quick return.
Clint Dempsey could return to the Premier League as early as January – despite quitting Spurs for America in the summer.
Fulham -who appointed Rene Meulensteen as head coach on Wednesday – could be interested in re-signing Dempsey as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.
West Ham are another club who could be interested in a short-term deal for Dempsey.
Dempsey will probably stay with the Seattle Sounders but there is a clause in his contract which allows him to play elsewhere during the off-season – similar to David Beckham when he was at LA Galaxy.
We think that Dempsey would be a fantastic short-term signing for West Ham. He’s creative, quick and has a brilliant football brain – at 30 years of age he is still a top professional.
West Ham fans, would you like to see Dempsey at the club in the short-term, in order to address the striker shortage?
Let’s remind ourselves of his qualities
