He doesn’t play in the same position and he probably isn’t anywhere near as good as the young Englishman, who has exploded onto the scene this season, but Liverpool have been linked with a player who definitely looks a little like the Tottenham flyer. Oh come on, he does a bit! If you squint a tad you could easily mistake the two. No? Squint more.
Anyway Liverpool have decent options at left-back but speculation has persisted that Brendan Rodgers may look at more cover on that side of the defence. It is being reported widely today that the agent of Iasmin Latovlevici reckons a deal could be on. The IB Times says:
When quizzed on whether the defender could leave, his agent Florin Iacob told Sport.ro TV: “Everything depends on the offer.
“I have been contacted by clubs even bigger than Monaco. Don’t be surprised if Liverpool are interested in him. I do not confirm their interest, but it will be a surprise for everyone.”
The 27 year old Romanian was an integral member of the Steaua Bucharest team that won the title last season and has 8 caps for the Romanian national side after earning a debut in 2011.
With Liverpool right up there with pace-setters Arsenal in the title chase and desperate to gain Champions League qualification for next season you really feel that this could be a breakthrough year at Anfield. But they will need to continue to strengthen in every window to become a truly heavyweight side.
