Liverpool linked with La Liga sensation

Luis Suarez looks like the happiest player in a Liverpool shirt right now

We have to say that, from where we are standing (ok sitting/slumping), Luis Suarez looks like the happiest player in a Liverpool shirt right now. He’s only taken a few weeks to rediscover the scintillating form which took him to the top of last season’s goal scoring charts before ‘bite gate’.

In this sort of mood Suarez is one of only a handful of genuine match winners in world football. It will come as no surprise then, that the rumours have once again begun to surface, about his next possible destination.

The international flavour of The Premier League is what makes it the most exciting in the world. The consequent problem is that, with less home grown players, there will naturally be less loyalty. You often hear foreign players speaking of ‘their dream’ to join English clubs but you simply can’t expect them to have the same affinity to Liverpool as a scouser or the commensurate feeling for Chelsea as a cockney.

In short, Suarez will eventually go to the place that pays him more than Liverpool and offers even more sun than The North West of England.

As neutrals we hope he will stay because he makes this league special. But Real Madrid are today mooted to be interested.

We say that The Daily Star says:

Suarez still wants out of Anfield, despite Liverpool’s impressive start to the season.

Arsenal are lining up a fresh New Year bid for the striker after failing to land him in the summer.

But the Uruguayan has his heart set on a move to Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid – and the Spanish giants hope offering Liverpool a big-name replacement for Suarez plus cash will tempt them to sell.

That big name player is said to be Karim Benzema. We can hear you breath a huge sigh of relief that it’s The Daily Star. Why would we want Benzema for Suarez? you scream.

Well, if Suarez does force his way out it wont be easy to find a replacement of top quality. A swap deal may be the best bet. And, despite the sometimes underwhelmed reaction of fans to Benzema, he is a player who has succeeded wherever he’s been. 57 goals in 133 games for Real tells you that his time in Madrid hasn’t been as uninspired as some imagine.

While he doesn’t have Suarez’ influence on games, there are few more ruthless finishers in the modern game.Let’s see him in action.
