Could this striker be the perfect solution for Chelsea?

The transfer merry go round is always spun sadistically hard at Chelsea each summer and the fans will feel a little sick until September, when it finally comes to a halt. This year, with a new(ish) manager looking to make his imprint on the way that the team plays, most of the speculation has been directed at the spine of the team – and particularly, the spearhead of that spine.

With the futures of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba up for discussion, and Juan Mata being linked with Barcelona, some of the more forward positions are potentially up for grabs. Chelsea have been linked with top strikers for over a year now as we all know – Cavani, Hulk and Rooney, to name but a few.

While each of those names still represents a possible signing for Chelsea I wonder whether they might turn their attention to the Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski. Although the German club has stated time and again that Lewandowski will not be transferred this summer, you would imagine that the money of Roman Abramovich could be very tempting for a club which is loathe to sell to bitter rivals Bayern Munchen, after losing Mario Gotze to them already.

German newspaper Bild has suggested that Dortmund are potentially interested in taking 2 Chelsea players – Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. If there is substance to these reports then it might give Chelsea some bargaining power should they be interested in Lewandowski. And why wouldn’t they be? Losing Lukaku would be a blow, but perhaps a necessary evil.

With all of the amazing creative talent in the Chelsea side, they simply need someone to finish the job and put the ball in the net. And that’s exactly what Lewandowski does best. He’s an out and out goalscorer. A master marksmen. Fernando Torres was bought for the same reason but, for reasons that have been endlessly debated, he doesn’t seem to be fulfilling that role.

The Polish striker is a very low risk solution for Jose because, even if he didn’t paint the town purple at Chelsea, he would at least retain a lot of his current value as, at 24, he has age on his side. With other reported targets being valued at ridiculous prices Robert Lewandowski, who might cost around £30-35m, seems like a no-brainer.

What do you Chelsea fans think? Is Lewandowski the man for the job or is he not much better than what you already have?

I will love Morinho to bring in Lawandowsky to pair up with Lukaku and still hold on to our KDB.. But if dortmund refused to sell without avn KDB den let them eat shit.

Jose should do everything in his power to bring in lewandowski because he is still young and full of talent. Sacrificing lukaku for him is no big deal. Torres still have that potential inside of him, all he need is a good coach to bring out the best in him which u are. Lewandowski, torres and Ba are good strinking force for Chelsea.
