International striker open to Arsenal move – report

We are still waiting for the supposedly massive ‘warchest’ to be opened by Arsene Wenger this summer. Driving around the property empire which surrounds the marvellous Emirates Stadium it’s hard to imagine that Arsenal don’t have a particularly handsome amount of cash to spend. IF the club does make the right moves in the transfer market this summer, you have to say that Arsenal will be on a serious upward trajectory, on the field as well as off it.

One of the players most strongly linked with a move to Arsenal this summer is Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain. The persistence of the rumours, twinned with an absence of any denial from the player or clubs involved would suggest that this story has legs.

The Daily Mail has reported that the 25 year old Argentinian has intimated that he wants to make the move to Arsenal. The Mail says:

Sportsmail understands the Argentina international has privately agreed to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Talks between Arsenal officials and Higuain’s representatives have progressed well and it seems all that is left is for the two clubs to agree a price.
In addition to smashing their transfer current transfer record, the £15million paid to Zenit St Petersburg for Andrey Arshavin, Arsenal are willing to make Higuain their top earner on around £150,000-per-week.

Although Higuain’s form hasn’t been great in the maelstrom of the Bernabeu over the last year, let’s make no mistake that this is a top striker. Perhaps the relative stability that he would get at Arsenal would bring the player back to the boil. Because, at his best he is a balletic bull of a player. He is one of those rare footballers who not only has great strength but also a wonderful touch. His general technique is excellent and he is quick as a flash. At his best, he seems to score goals before the opposition has even noticed that he has hit it. Higuain can be devastating for Arsenal. With 107 in just 187 games for Real and 20 in 32 for Argentina this is an out and out goalscorer. Let’s have a look at his highlights.

Some of the comments above are so unintelligible that one wonders whether they have been written by individuals pictorialised on the far left of the graphic at the top of the page. C’mon people. As far as Higuain is concerned, let’s get it done. Before the beginning of pre-season training will do just nicely.
