Liverpool beat elite to Italian star?

Ask 10 Liverpool fans who they should sign this summer and they will prbably all give you a different answer. But many do believe that Liverpool need to sign a defender – more specifically a central defender – to solidify their back line.

While Daniel Agger continues to perform admirably for the club, Martin Skrtel hasn’t had the best of seasons and Jamie Carragher has found himself getting a game once again. Wherever else Liverpool do decide to strengthen in the summer, you would imagine that a centre-back back would be a priority then.

The name Angelo Ogbonna has been bandied around England’s top clubs for some time. While his destination isn’t certain, there is usually no smoke without fire, so the talented 24 year old could well be coming to England next season. Talksport has reported that Liverpool may have stolen a march on their rivals to the signature of the player.

Born to Nigerian parents who came to Italy in 1983, Ogbonna has become a rock for his club Torino, since he joined in 2006, and has 5 caps in a highly competitive Italy squad.

He certainly has the build and athleticism to cope with the demands of The Premier League and we think that he could fit in well at Liverpool, in Brendan Rodgers brave new world.

Let’s have a look at a recent performance against Atalanta shall we? Yes, let’s!
