Report: Liverpool in for two top wingers

We aren’t even into April but the transfer mill is going into overdrive as far as Liverpool is concerned. Brendan Rodgers will undoubtedly invest in the summer as he continues the good work that he has started at Anfield. He said this week that:

‘There is no doubt there is a natural rebuilding that will come with the likes of Jamie Carragher going,’
‘I am happy with the squad if I can then put another three or four quality players to it. It is quality we are after, not quantity.
‘If we bring in another three or four quality players to add to what we have got, then we have got a strong squad. Naturally there might be people who aren’t playing who might want to think about going elsewhere, but at the moment it’s a strong squad.’

The Daily Mail is always at the forefront of such pure speculation and 2 of the transfer links that are gathering pace with many tabloids relate to Hatem Ben Arfa and Tom Ince. soccersweep reported last year that Ben Arfa could be the perfect addition to Liverpool and, despite injuries, he still looks a top player. Newcastle will be loathe to let him go but Liverpool remain a huge draw and,  if Rodgers makes a serious attempt to sign him, he may find a move impossible to refuse. Such is the quality of the player however that Liverpool might not be the only suitors if Ben Arfa indicates a willingness to move on. Manchester United, for one, are always on the lookout for top wide boys and their current crop look a little flat.

Anyhoo, Ben Arfa to Liverpool would be a great coup for Brendan Rodgers. The other name which won’t go away in regards to Liverpool, is Tom Ince. The England U21 international has been flying for Blackpool and was strongly linked with a move to Anfield in the winter window. Eventually he’ll play at the top level but, now that his father is managing Blackpool, he might wish to keep his star player for a little longer.
