With the much referenced ‘war-chest’ on offer for Arsene Wenger this summer, we are seeing a big speculation escalation for Arsenal already. It’s always a case of separating the wheat from the chaff with these stories, but we shall leave that to you on this occasion.
These 3 stars have been linked with Arsenal in the last day or so.
Gonzalo Higuain – The Argentinian striker has been in and out of the Real Madrid team this season. He’s fought for the number one striking spot with similarly off the boil Frenchman Karim Benzema. Perhaps not as explosive as he used to be but a player known for his strength on the ball. The Mirror reckons Arsenal will battle it out with Tottenham for his signature in the summer.
Victor Wanyama – The Star has gone with an already famous tale about Arsenal wanting Victor Wanyama. They won’t be the only club in the queue for this monster midfielder but he would surely add real strength to a midfield that has so much craft but not enough graft. At only 21, he’d probably cost upwards of £20m and The Star says that he is the top summer target for Wenger.
Micah Richards – this is a tasty tit bit. The England international has been unlucky with injuries and overlooked for a starting spot in the Manchester City team this season. An Arsenal blog cited the Mirror, who apparently reported that Richards is a target for Arsene Wenger. The link has since been taken down. But we think that this would be an excellent signing for Arsenal. The Gunners have an abundance of technically excellent players but they lack steel. Some question the technique of Richards but you certianly wouldn’t pick a fight with him. He’s a man mountain who would add genuine strength to a slightly powder puff defence.
So, Arsenal fans, what do you think of a new spine of Richards, Wanyama and Higuain?
