Ramon Calderon, the ex-president of Real Madrid, gave an interview with Talksport this morning, where he talked up the chances of Jose Mourinho leaving Los Blancos at the end of the season. In a frank interview, Calderon expressed misgivings about Mourinho’s confrontational style of management and suggested that it hadn’t been universally well received at Real Madrid. He scotched the rumours which have linked Mourinho with a possible return to Chelsea at the end of the season, saying that he is more likely to go to French giants PSG instead.
Whether PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti is aware that his position is under threat remains to be seen but Chelsea fans will certainly be disconcerted by the words of someone who has such close links with the club.
Calderon was also asked, on the daily Richard Keys sand Andy Gray show, about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo. Calderon said that Ronaldo has refused to talk about his contract and that his future was still in the balance. It remains unlikely that such a valuable player will be allowed to leave without a fight, or indeed that he would want to leave at all.
Meanwhile, with Pep Guardiola now committed to Bayern Munich, the identity of the next permanent Chelsea manager remains unclear.
So, Chelsea fans, do you still think that Jose Mourinho will return to the club or is his next step a period in France? Let us know your thoughts.
