Arsenal

Arsenal eyeing Beckham?

Reports are emerging today that Manchester United and Real Madrid legend, David Beckham, will train with Arsenal until he finds a new club.

Obviously the circumstances surrounding Thierry Henry’s return to Arsenal were different. Henry had nothing to prove to a set of fans who adored him after his first stint at the club. But Wenger isn’t averse to the odd veteran and if Becks doesn’t find a club soon people will start to talk. Could old Diamond Drawers end up staying with The Gunners for the season?

At 37 it’s questionable how much the player could offer to a team of Arsenal’s quality – a team which can count

Wilshere, Ramsey, Diaby, Arteta, Rosicky and Cazorla among their midfield number.

But who knows? Becks does perhaps offer something a little different to all of the above. He’s still a wonderful passer and set piece taker and can probably still out sprint most crisp eating kids half his age.

Arsenal seem anything but lucky where it comes to their injury list –  I can’t remember the last time Wenger’s squad had a clean bill of health – and Becks would represent a low risk investment.

QPR and West Ham retain an interest and still seem more likely destinations for the beloved East Ender.
