Liverpool have finally offloaded Andy Carroll as a £1.5m loan deal has been agreed with West Ham for the striker.
Carroll made 44 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 6 goals in the process – a tally that hasn’t impressed his coaches. The feeling around Anfield is that Carroll simply doesn’t have the technical ability to fit into Brendan Rodger’s new Liverpool. After initially rejecting the idea of going to West Ham, Carroll has ultimately relented and is moving to London to try and kickstart a stalling club career.
This means that today is going to be particularly hectic for Liverpool FC. With Carroll partially off the wage bill Brendan Rodgers is confident that he can get another striker in. Speculation persists that this will be Daniel Sturridge, possibly on loan.
“I’ve been given as much confidence as I can possibly get that we will have someone to come in….”
“I’ve said all along that I have Luis Suárez and Fabio Borini as front-line strikers and the young lads like Adam Morgan are getting experience but between now and January I need more than that. Hopefully tomorrow we can do some work and get something complete because we certainly need it. I am hoping for one or two. We need one, that’s for sure.”
