‘Liverpool will get one or two more in’

Well suckle on my pachangas if it ain’t the new season already!  Usually, the summer drags like a heavy smoker after a twelve hour flight, but this year the EUROs and Olympics have somewhat sated our desires for proper football – I say somewhat, because I still got the cravings bad in July.

Now we can sit back and watch the new wave of exciting talent trying to make good in the biggest league of all. Roo and RVP up front at United. A new triumvirate of attacking talent at The Emirates. A new style at Liverpool (another one). And stupid money spent at Chelsea – no change there then. I’m getting a bit icky just thinking about it.

We think that the title race will be another keenly contested competition. Many believe that it’s between United and City. Well, ‘many’, seem to have forgotten the small matter of Chelsea signing two of the best young players in the world. These guys won’t need too much time to adapt, such is their quality. We think that a Hazard and Oscar loaded Chelsea will be a match for most this time out. Hazard, in particular, is mustard. You would be a crazy person to write them off.

We also think that Liverpool will make steady progress this year. Liverpool fans, like everyone else, always crave major signings but Brendan Rodgers has bought well and will get one or two more in before the end of August. Clint Dempsey is probably the most underrated player in the league and would be a fine acquisition. Liverpool and Arsenal might struggle to stay in title contention this season but a cup, and Champions League qualification, are far from beyond them.

soccersweep has teamed up with William Hill to offer various brilliant deals when you sign up. Look out for the links in the coming days.

As you should know by now, this section concentrates on a weekly accumulator. It’s so much fun and costs as little as a squid. We have several fictitious football scientists locked away underground, doing applied maths each week, to get you guys the best predictions. They are raring to go. So are we. So let’s do this thing. Yeah baby. Wooooo… It’s back I tells ya!

So certain are we of making a mint on our predictions this year that we are opening our own account at Billy Hills and putting £20 in there. We’ll keep you updated on our tally as the season progresses.
