Liverpool: Dempsey hands in transfer request

Martin Jol has said in the last few moments that Clint Dempsey has put in a transfer request. Recently, Liverpool made their interest for the player known, but Fulham rebuffed their advances and asserted that further offers for the player would not be welcomed.

But Dempsey has clearly had his head turned and is looking for a new challenge. At 29, he probably only has one big contract left in him and he obviously feels that now is the time to move on. We at soccersweep can’t see him going anywhere but Liverpool and think that a deal is now inevitable.

Liverpool fans’ comments have been very mixed about this transfer. We think that Dempsey is an absolute gem. What do you think?

Class Act – proven ability and a far safer bet than Sahin – besides we need a STRIKER MORE

Even if he is a good attacking player,he is at 29 now so think once again before spending money on him:-)

Sincerely hope Clint Dempsey is Liverpool bound. Agree with the earlier posting that we are in greater need of a reliable striker than another midfielder. The Moroccan player undergoing a medical at Melwood was a surprise but if the video clips available are representative of his ability he will be a valuable addition to the team. This underscores the need for the manager to secure Dempsey who is a tried and tested success in the EPL. Hope we haven’t dithered let in Arsenal instead!

I hope Arsenal do buy him, as we can’t afford to waste £10M on a player with at most 2 years left, he will be 30 in March. FSG and Rodgers have said we have to be frugal with our spending. We could live with a straight swap for Adam if he doesn’t sign for Everton. And I’m not a kid, I’m a Liverpool supporter of 64 years but realistic about the available funds. Sorry Reds4eva you are deluded if you think he could last 6 years more, at his present age he is already at risk of picking up regular injuries. very few forward players last to 36 and remain capable of a full 90 mins.

Young fans have argued that Demsey is old though he’s hardly being held up by a zimmerframe in the post office pension queue. Fantastic player with half a dozen seasons of the top draw yet to play. Consistency at a club that scrapes and struggles is admirable. LFC should sign this guy, in truth has more admirers hotly anticipating his arrival than doubters. Come on BR one tried and tested addition to the squad is long overdue.

Dempsey makes a very good addition to Liverpool FC make-up for now. We definately need his calbre of players at Anfield to be able to challenge for a top 4 placing in the coming season and besides the American support factor is also key in the whole formular.

I think he will be a great addition. I know some are saying too old but he had premier league experience and can score. Also an opportunity for the owners to market the club merchandise better in America.

Rvp is 29 and cost a total package of 73 mil. Clint had 29 goals Rvp had 30. 5-10 mil would be fine.
