Liverpool in for another midfielder?

Some are suggesting that, now the Joe Allen deal is all but done for Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers is immediately looking to further bolster the Merseyside midfield with Celtic star Ki Sung-Yueng.

The big 23 year old South Korean has drawn interest from several clubs around Europe after a standout season for the Scottish Champions. As well as Liverpool, QPR and Deportivo La Coruna are also said to be on his case.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon signed the player from FC Seoul in 2010 for just £2m and would reportedly be looking to make a £5m profit on a schemer who has just 18 months left on his contract.

Asian footballers are often shouldered with the unfair image of players simply signed to boost the profile of British clubs in the Far East. But, as Ji Sung Park proved at Manchester United, there are some top players coming out of the region.

Brendan Rodgers seems to be gaining a reputation for slightly unexpected signings and this one could be yet another as he looks to make his midfield more fluid and mobile.

So, does the tenacious Ki-Sung Yueng fit the bill for new Liverpool?

Why? He is not going to fill “Home grown” quota, he is not going to start, not good enough to improve the bench. Only thing he ‘ll provide is the depth of the squad, but in mid field, where even without Allen we have enough numbers.

we need SQUAD DEPTH if we`re going to COMPETE WELL in the EPL,Europa League and all the domestic cups…that could be 60 games this season. We are not going to have Suarez,Gerrard,Allen,Borini,Agger available for every game.As previous years have proved,we need a GOOD,WELL DRILLED,WELL ORGANISED SQUAD to have a much improved season….I reckon Brendon Rodgers will vindicate his signings at season`s end…looking forward to supporting LFC to a much improved season ahead….YNWA…LETS ALL GET BEHIND BR and OUR TEAM!!!!!!!!

New managers first home game last night, cannot believe Kop were chanting For Dalglish throughout the game, have they learned nothing, stop living in the past and move on. Dalgleish is history, let’s back Rodgers otherwise it will be another 20 years before we win the title.

My 9 year old son and I like Liverpool but are huge Hoops fans. Ki is his favourite player and though he can lack the dig of Wanyama, Ledley, Brown, Kayal etc at times he is a very classy international player who will enhance a midfield lacking in creativity imo. Struggled with the often calamitous Scottish style of play but he is composure personified and can thread a ball through the eye of a needle. Deadly at set pieces also very good technically. Will play more often than not if he signs for Liverpool imo and though sad to see him leave would wish him well in a league he was born to play in.

Oh yes he is the guy is sheer quality ,, not good enough ! Charlie Adam is in your team for gods sake ! St to make 5 million profit which would mean Celtic will sell him for 7 million which I think you will find that as another valuation pulled out of a journalists arse !! You only have one miidfielder better than KI ! You do not have a better passer of the ball !!

I agree… I want him to stay here.

    But ……

He is far superior to Charlie Adam !!

The same supporters who slagged off Yelavic are at it again! Are you all so bigoted your judgement of players is worthless.
How many of you would accept Yelavic now?

Did you not see Ki-Sung Yeung destroy the Team GB defence? He’s pacey, creative and can provide brilliant cover for our midfield. He’s still young and would come relatively cheap. Would be an absolute steal should we get him for £5 million.

Gerrard’ Shelvey, Henderson, Lucas, Allen, Spearing, Adam, Suso! even if we get rid of Adams and Spearing I don’t think we need another midfielder! We need a couple of versatile wide attackers.

    This will not happen
