Manchester United: David Gill set for weekend RVP talks?

The latest suggestion, in the hunt for Robin Van Persie, is that a deal could be thrashed out at the weekend when Manchester United chief executive David Gill will be in London on official business.

The Telegraph reports that Manchester United are still pursuing a deal optimistically and that, after failed bids of £10 and £15m a third, of around a £20m mark will leave Arsenal little reason to keep the wantaway Dutchman.

The same trusted source also asserts the idea that the player himself is now set on a move to Manchester United over Juventus and Manchester City.

It’s the sort of transfer saga that has become synonymous with Manchester United of late but Alex Ferguson seems hopeful that another top target won’t slip through his fingers this summer. Because, if the Van Persie deal doesn’t come off, Manchester United will find themselves perilously close to the end of the transfer window with only one major recruit in Shinji Kagawa.

The move for RVP, has its pros and cons. RVP would bring goals, and take that burden off Rooney. They would most likely form one of the most feared strike force in the premier league ad possibly Europe. That said. United are thin at left back. Why send Fabio out on lone if u have no cover. Dont think fergie should be gambling on anderson to come good. Also scholes (a legend and stil a really good player), should not be getting as much game time as he does. Surely the “next generation” should be pushing through. This can’t happen if all the spots are filled. Would love to see Martinez /Sahin/ Moutinho/Alex Sandro brought in. Surely that would be money better spent? We should have funds, as we offered £30 for Hazard and Lucas.
