Liverpool – Berbatov would love Anfield

It seems like an improbable transfer but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. While Manchester United and Liverpool are typically loathe to do business, Berbatov to Liverpool might well suit both parties.

Despite his obvious talent and excellent strike rate, the Bulgarian has never cemented himself as a fans favourite and has become increasingly marginalised in the last year of his Old Trafford career. He finished up as joint top scorer in the League last season and has an impressive 49 goals in 109 appearances for Manchester United.

The main reasons cited for his fall from grace are that he slows the game down and doesn’t score in the biggest ties. Manchester United are now seemingly obsessed with packing their team full of speed demons and Berbs doesn’t fit the bill.

But Liverpool need quality additions and a transfer to Anfield may appeal to him so that he can reestablish himself with another North West giant. It’s clear that he needs a change of scenery and a link up with Luis Suarez could pay handsome generate a blinding combination of speed, finesse and one touch magic up front.

In short, Liverpool could get a class player and seasoned international for as little as £8-10m. Worth a punt? What do you think?

Liverpool’s weakness is failure to finish off smaller teams and Berba hammers those. So the Suarez and Gerrards hammer Mancs, then Dimitar would hammer small clubs. It is a thing(failure to beat small clubs) that cost Dalglish the job,a thing that cost Benitez the league in 2009.

Why write this article when you know United will never sell to a club who vilified Evra when he was in the right and have yet to issue him a personal apology for any of the numerous slanderous comments made by Liverpool football club?

Given that he’ll want a big contract to sign for us there’s no way we should be looking at paying a fee for him. In any case, if united don’t exercise his contract extension clause, they won’t be able to demand one. I suspect if this does happen, then it will be later in the window when united’s option to extend has expired. You know that as soon as pool express an interest they will extend in order to demand a fee. FSG should keep quiet if they want him or be make a big noise about it if they don’t (to encourage united to extend his contract). Would be a decent free signing as a third striker – we definitely need one.

Why not? He’s got to improve possibilities although who knows who is going to be coaching LFC in June….as for the Evra affair it does seem odd that it’s just one man’s word against another with a backdrop of cultural bias – LFC have nothing to apologise for although it was handled badly ….
