Liverpool are keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt ahead of a summer move, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The 20-year-old is rated at £20million, but Jurgen Klopp is keen to rival Bayern Munich for the youngster at the end of the campaign even if he’s not for sale just yet.
Klopp is still thorough on his knowledge on the Bundesliga, with Brandt having also previously played for Wolfsburg. This season, he’s netted twice in the league and created six assists.
The Echo suggest that the Reds have regularly scouted the midfielder this season.
While Liverpool have plenty of attacking options, they are still keen for more strength-in-depth to aid them in their pursuit of a first title since 1990.
Sadio Mane will be away at the African Cup of Nations for at least the next three weeks, and while signing Brandt in a few months’ time won’t alleviate that situation, it has highlighted the need to delve into the transfer market.
