Ibrahimovic boost for United?

WILL he or won’t he?

The question of whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic will join Manchester United remains unanswered in what is already threatening to be the summer’s longest-running transfer saga.

One thing the Swedish superstar has confirmed is that he won’t be playing for Malmo next season, according to Manchester Evening News.

The paper report: “Manchester United target Ibrahimovic has ruled out a move to former club Malmo but refused to confirm which club he would move to in the summer.

“The 34-year-old was linked with a return to his hometown club over the weekend after he said ‘I wish I could play there today’ but clarified his comments about returning to Malmo were in reference to featuring for the national team at the club’s stadium.”

In typical Zlatan style, the forward went on to tell reporters at at press conference ahead his country’s Euro 2016 campaign “I’m too good for the Allsvenskan (Sweden’s top league)”.

That comment only further increased speculation that Old Trafford – and a reunion with his former Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho – is on the cards.

Ibrahimovic recently said he regretted not staying at the Serie A club longer with Mourinho in charge and admitted the pair had a fantastic relationship and still talk regularly.

But after ruling out a sentimental return to Malmo, the striker continued to play games with the media,
Ibrahimovic, who will leave Paris St Germain on a free transfer when his contract expires next month, said: “I want you to still write a lot of stories so I get excited when I see them. Because I want to see who is making up the best story and, when I am tired of it, I will let you know where I go.”
