There is maybe a public perception of him as moody. But the same could be said of Eric Cantona and no Manchester United fan could ever criticise him – indeed, that’s part of what made him so great.
And, with deals for top quality forwards so difficult to get over the line in January, it’s difficult to imagine that the name of Saido Berahino hasn’t come up in serious conversation within the corridors of power at Manchester United.
The 22 year old England U21 striker is a quite wonderful prospect with proven class in The Premier League. During more settled times at West Brom last season he managed 20 goals in 45 games for a team which wasn’t exactly blowing opponents away each week.
He’s fast, he’s got excellent technique and is a ruthless finisher.
Berahino could be used through the middle or on either side of Manchester United’s attack and this is an athlete who never seems to tire.
Most of the January transfer business looks typically likely to be concluded in the latter stages of the window.
If Berahino is still available by then we will be somehwat surprised. But how Manchester United could use his direct style, his pace and his finishing ability in the second half of the season.
Let’s see some of his better moments.
Manchester United fans: a good shout?
