Chelsea have been quieter than many in the market this summer but we expect more movement from them with so long to go before the window closes.
And it appears that they are clearing the decks before making their next foray into the market.
Because widespread reports are suggesting that Chelsea have agreed a deal for Filipe Luis to return to Atletico Madrid after just one season at the West London club.
Spanish news outlet Marca states with great assurance:
Atlético de Madrid have completed the deal to bring Filipe Luis back to the Spanish capital.
The ‘Rojiblancos’ will pay Chelsea €16 million for the Brazilian full-back, who will sign for three seasons.
It’s been something of a torrid year for the lad at Chelsea.
The 29 year old made 24 appearances for Chelsea and 13 in the league.
But many of those came off the bench and he was never trusted in the big games, with Cesar Azpilicueta making the position his own, despite being a right back by nature.
He was well loved at Atleti and he will surely be happy to make the move home – expect some heartfelt sound bytes from the lad when he is unveiled officially, if indeed the move goes ahead.
Chelsea fans: should you have held on to him for one more season?
