Pretty much everyone in football thought that Radamel Falcao would join Real Madrid in the summer. When he seemed set to move, his future was pointing toward Los Blancos. After he went to Manchester United his father confirmed that Real Madrid had been interested:
“The deal with Real Madrid did not happen because if you have money and you go to the market to buy a shirt or a pair of trousers, you have to decide whether to buy it or not,” Falcao’s father Radamel Garcia said to Colombian radio station LA FM.
“Real Madrid chose not to. I don’t know, I have the feeling they wanted the player for free with a number of conditions.
But their typically intense pursuits of players hasn’t extended to this guy. It must have had something to do with the knee injury that the striker suffered at the start of the year – his third serious one.
The Spanish giants obviously weren’t happy to take a gamble on the player back then. But latest reports suggest that he may be on his way to Madrid after all.
The British media has reported that the Spaniards still want him:
REAL MADRID are lining up a move for Manchester United’s Radamel Falcao with Karim Benzema keen on a move to Liverpool.
Due to lots of niggling injuries, since the big one in January, Falcao’s progress at Manchester United has been slow. But over the last few weeks he’s got some substantial game time and there are glimpses of the genius returning. We feel that it’s simply a matter of time before Falcao gets back to his best. At 28 years of age the injuries may have had a small effect on his pace but his overall game won’t suffer too much.
He’s once more charging around the pitch and scoring goals for United. We feel that in a couple of months time he will be on fire again.
And he may well still be of interest from Real Madrid because this is potentially one of the very best players in the world. With constant speculation about the future of Karim Benzema you imagine that Madrid will invest heavily in strikers in the summer. Falcao may be on their shortlist once more.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Real Madrid fans: is it too late to sign the Colombian?
