This one has been picking up pace in the media over the last few days. Manchester City’s obvious weakness right now, in terms of numbers, is up top.
In Sergio Aguero they have one of the best strikers in the world and Edin Dzeko has been scoring important goals for a couple of years now. But, beyond that, they only have Jovetic as senior back up.
Manchester City haven’t been able to spend quite as freely since the new FairPlay rules came into action – these days they have to buy players commensurate with their revenue rather than their bottomless pockets. But we can easily imagine them having a splurge on a striker in January in order to keep their recently impressive title tilt on track.
After much speculation linking the 26 year old with a move, and a broad sheet article which last night claimed that the player wants to move to a Champions League club, Manchester City are now firm favourites with bookmaker SkyBet – at odds of 13/8 – to sign Bony if he moves in Janaury.
The Ivory Coast international (11 goals in 32 caps) is a wonderful player and would certainly improve the Manchester City squad. He’s an amazing physical specimen – almost as wide as he is tall – but he has a soft touch to go with all the power.
We particularly like the composure he shows on the ball. He always looks to have time and his positioning is excellent. We can see him moving soon and Manchester City may now be best placed to buy him.
Let’s see Bony in action. Manchester City fans: good enough?
