Picture: Barcelona’s Strongest XI vs Rayo

Barca Rayo

Winnable

It’s been a disappointing week for Barcelona in Europe. Most frustratingly, they weren’t exactly outplayed by PSG but they fell victim to errors at set plays which cost them dear. It’s hardly a decisive result, however, in a group that they should sail through having now played their most testing fixture.

In the league the story is much different. Barcelona have been almost immaculate this season in La Liga and they should expect to continue their great run against Rayo on Saturday.

Rayo themselves have had a decent start to the season winning, drawing a losing 2 games and scoring 10 goals, which is more than all but 5 of the teams in La Liga. But there defensive record isn’t great and Barcelona will be confident of getting their on-from partnership of Messi and Neymar on the scoresheet this weekend.

Barcelona are, of course yet to concede a goal this season in the league. But we would still like to see Gerard Pique get a run out as he offers the sort of experience that Barca needed at the backed against PSG.

Other than that it’s pretty much as you were for the game, as Barcelona count down the days before Luis Suarez graces the side for the first time. Rakitic gets in ahead of Xavi, even though the latter started on the bench in the week, because Rakitic will offer more defensive cover against a side that knows where the net is.

So here’s our best XI for the weekend. Barca fans: do you agree?

I don’t agree with busquets, he is too soft to defend, I would leave mascherano instead of him. And rakitic and iniesta on top of the midfield
