Now that Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United are back from their pre-season tour of America you would imagine that their transfer business will speed up considerably.
Because while the tour reminded us of how high quality the Manchester United squad is they definitely need reinforcements before the start of the season.
We would suggest that the ideal scenario would be for the club to sign Juan Cuadrado, Daley Blind, Arturo Vidal and Mats Hummels. If United can get these four in then they would have to be happy with their window.
And reports today suggest that the club are pulling out all the stops to sign Hummels. The Daily Star reports:
Manchester United plot a final £30m bid for Dortmund’s Hummels
Hummels won’t be an easy acquisition. His club seems loathe to sell him and he is such a good player that he will certainly draw interest from elsewhere.
But, Manchester United’s desperation for an experienced centre half may see them go the extra mile for the player. Even at 37m Euros he would represent good value. At 25 he can form the long term backbone of Manchester United’s next great side. And he is certainly good enough to eventually be compared to the likes of Ferdinand and Vidic.
With options drying up at centre back in the market this summer, United need to act fast and decisively on this one. Let’s take a look at the lad in action.
