Tottenham have arguably had their fingers burnt over the last year in trying to sign highly rated young players with no experience in The Premier League.
But when coltish, exciting foreign talent presents itself it’s sometimes difficult to turn your nose up at it. And Tottenham are reportedly looking at another highly-promising creator, this time from Holland.
The Sunday People reported this weekend:
Tottenham are closing in on Dutch World Cup star Memphis Depay, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.
The 20-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger, valued at around £13million, is a major target for Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino who was a fan even before Depay’s heroics for Holland in Brazil.
Having broken into the PSV senior side in 2011 he has become an increasingly regular starter scoring 22 in 84 from a wide position. Last season, he played 43 time and scored 14 goals.
He;s lightning quick, explosive, can beat his man and score goals. What do you want? Blood?
The Question is whether he has the aptitude to flourish in the bear pit of English football. We have to say that if we held the purse strings at Tottenham we would certainly loosen them for this guy. Even if he flops he sell-on value would be good, considering his age.
Let’s see the lad in action. Tottenham fans: what’s not to like?
