CHELSEA vs ATLETICO MADRID – Champions League Semi-Final 2nd Leg – Kick Off 1945
Chelsea: Schwarzer, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (c), Cole, Ramires, David Luiz, Azpilicueta, Hazard, Willian, Torres
Subs: Oscar, Schürrle, van Ginkel, Ba, Eto’o, Kalas, Hilário
Atletico Madrid: Courtois, Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Filipe Luis, Mario Suarez, Tiago, Adrian, Koke, Arda, Diego Costa
Somehow Jose has guided Chelsea to title contention and striking distance of another Champions League final. And this is supposed to be a transitional year for the club!
What is easy to see is that Chelsea lack really top strikers at this level. Players who can change even the tightest of games. That will need to be addressed in the summer and may be their undoing if they get to the final.
But Chelsea should have enough to cause Atletico Madrid all sorts of problems tonight. They need to be a lot more positive than they were in the away leg. But that defensive solidity in Spain has afforded them the opportunity to contest a trophy that they first won in 2012.
We think that Chelsea will have a real go tonight in a game which should be a lot more open than the first. Let’s hope that they can book their place in the final in what would amount to a spectacular first season back for Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
