Manchester City’s summer got off to a flying start with the signings of Bernardo Silva and Ederson.
The attacking midfielder and goalkeeper will certainly do Pep Guardiola’s squad no harm as he looks for a better second season than his maiden campaign.
Full-backs are still his priority, and missing out on Dani Alves, who has signed for Paris Saint-Germain, is undoubtedly a big setback.
There has been no progress on Kyle Walker’s switch from Tottenham, either.
However, the Daily Mail report that City are at least moving towards the signing of Ryan Bertrand from Southampton.
The left-back has finally settled at St Mary’s having been sent on loan nine times during his spell at Chelsea.
It would be difficult to turn down City, though, especially as Southampton are facing another season of transition following the appointment of Mauricio Pellegrino.
The full-back positions were a major problem for Guardiola last term, and since releasing Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy, and Bacary Sagna, the situation has only worsened.
Talks are also thought to be ongoing with Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy, per the same source.
