Manchester City remain convinced they can sign Kingsley Coman despite the fact that the winger has just signed for Bayern Munich.
That’s according to the Times, who report that Pep Guardiola is willing to pay as much as £50million for the 20-year-old.
The Frenchman has been on loan for the past two seasons at the Allianz Arena, but has played less of a role since Carlo Ancelotti took over from Guardiola last summer.
The midfielder’s situation is complex. Bayern took up the option to sign him from Juventus in an £18million deal last week, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will be playing in the Bundesliga next season.
Just as with the Alvaro Morata deal between Juve and Real Madrid, Bayern may simply have bought him in order to make a profit when they sell the starlet on.
They are certainly in line to do well out of the deal given City’s enormous budget. It’s suggested a deal is now in the pipeline after club officials spoke to the player’s representatives, and Guardiola will be confident he can once again get the best out of him.
