It’s looking increasingly likely that Sergio Aguero will consider his future this summer.
The Argentina international and two-time Premier League title winner was dropped in favour of Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus, at least until the 19-year-old was ruled out for the foreseeable future through injury.
Pep Guardiola should be wary of alienating such an established striker, as he will have learned with Joe Hart that it can be difficult to replace the club’s big names.
If Aguero does decide to leave, he won’t come cheaply.
The Sun report that he will cost around £60million, with Real Madrid now leading the race for his signature.
The same newspaper claim that Aguero is keen on the move, despite having played for Los Blancos’ city rivals Atletico.
Aguero is yet to win the Champions League, which may be what makes Real seem more appealing than staying at City.
Guardiola has refused to assure him he’ll be playing every week at City, and if he’s not willing to offer that, then a player of his calibre isn’t going to sit on the bench.
