Given that Arsenal and Spurs finished second and third respectively, it’s fair to say that for the first time in a long time, both North London clubs are at roughly the same level.
It’s therefore no surprise that they are going to be looking at some of the same transfer targets, with Wissam Ben Yedder the latest name being linked with both sides.
Canal+ report that the Toulouse striker is being considered by both Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino after scoring 17 goals last season in Ligue 1.
Ben Yedder is a France under-21 international who has been on Spurs’ radar for some time.
Now that the Lilywhites have signed Vincent Janssen up front, it seems more likely that it will be Arsenal who continue to pursue the player, as their need for a striker is greater than Spurs, with Danny Welbeck out until 2017.
Wenger may be keen to bring in the starlet as a cheaper option than some of the big names the Gunners have been linked with, but his signature may be more about bragging rights than anything else.
