Atletico Madrid could make a shock bid for Liverpool forward Divock Origi after growing increasingly frustrated in their attempts to sign Diego Costa.
The Chelsea striker may have been Atleti boss’ Diego Simeone’s main target this summer, but with the Blues keen to hold on to the 27-year-old, he has now turned his attentions to Origi, as per Bleacher Report.
Simeone is interested in the Belgian because he thinks he could fit his highly-tactical, direct brand of football.
That doesn’t mean Liverpool would be willing to sell, as Jurgen Klopp clearly values Origi highly, but they could perhaps be tempted by a high price.
The 21-year-old made an impressive start to his Anfield career last season, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
Liverpool’s run to the Europa League final allowed Klopp to experiment with young players towards the end of the campaign and it has clearly paid off for Origi.
